this project is now entering the final phases of sketch design.
in association with the clients, we have arrived at the preferred sketch plan and i am working up the preliminary sketch elevations.
as discussed previously, my sketch design process involves presenting a number of initial sketch plans to the clients who then respond with feedback; i prepare a more developed plan and commence the elevations to go with it.
in this instance, i am up to SK09 (the 9th sketch plan) before starting the elevations; unusual for me. these clients are aware of their budget and we have done a number of plans and discussed them with builders to get a good idea on cost before proceeding too far.
this plan is now quite firm, although small modifications will occur as the elevations are developed.
i have a fairly firm idea in my head how the elevations will look early on in the process whilst drawing the plans and it is a matter now of combining my conceptual ideas with linework; responding to the developed plan and site; finding images to show the clients to describe the design; the to and fro of three dimensional concepts into two dimensional images on paper and computer.
