developing a new knit design:
always best to undertake a little test drive wear.

my design for brooklyn tweed | wool people
so thrilled to be invited to participate with such excellent company!
my design is based on stephen holl's horizontal skyscraper:
a bold, hovering, linear megastructure with projecting built forms.
referenced here with reverse stocking stitch
to provide a monolithic fabric;
and articulated arm elements.
slashed boat neck,
[optional] extra long sleeves
[with optional thumbhole detail],
and a slim waist to balance the design aesthetic.

another long sleeve t-shirt
[linear charcoal fabric from here]
perpendicular inset panels
[along the under arm and side seams]
cut long in the body
[eliminating chilly draughts]
extra long sleeves
[just the way i like them]
[now sadly fraying...]
much like myself
[at the end of the school holidays]
now i'm rambling

a reversible unisex hat design
with a square, box-like form.
peter zumthor is a swiss architect.
he creates evocative architecture for the senses;
his work frequently employing box like forms.
my personal favourite is the undeniably exquisite
bruder klaus chapel in southern germany.
[fabulous youtube walkthrough link here.]
2 variations of the design
are included in the pattern:
Model A : a snug beanie style hat
Model B : an elongated hat with slouch for a softer silhouette
if you'd like to win a copy of the pattern,
[or reimbursement if you cannot wait!]

梯形 | TEIKEI Japanese for (n) trapezoid, a quadrilateral shape/form
my new [favourite] scarf:
using the form of a right-angled trapezium/trapezoid
and the ever-amazing habu silk wrapped stainless steel
with two airy, lightweight threads of super fine merino yarn.
 to elongate your aesthetic,
for elegant, over the shoulder style, or
times for those extra chilly mornings!
i have honestly worn this
definitely my 'go to' scarf.

the weekend that was:
so good to get away with a great group of crafting types
and hit the sewing machine hard!
i worked on 8 or so sewn garments,
to varying degrees of completion.
[and 1 knitting machine piece still under construction]
3 of them here:
the long-sleeve wool merino knit
the over-sized wool mesh top
the pin-striped wool pants.
all 3 my own design:
developing previous incarnations.
i'm loving the new ensemble!
