my mum took my two children to see the queen today:
anais practised her curtsies;
tom simply pleased with a day off school.
after much patient waiting
she duly appeared
with anais in prime position.
HRH kindly accepted both anais' curtsy and posy,
gave her a smile and a thank you,
and a follow up hello from the prince!
it was then off to catch another glimpse
of her majesty in the tram
and home to tell all. what a day!

i bought a new book to read to my 5 year old
but offered it to my 8 year old first.
he read it immediately
in a single 2 hour session.
can't imagine where he gets his love of reading from...

i know,
the photo has absolutely no connection:
i simply like it.
after a challenging couple of months
we snuck away for a little break,
sans children.
nothing like staying locally,
wandering the laneways,
dining at a fabulous restaurant,
buying fabric,
and gazing at an exhibition,
or two,
to recharge the batteries.
or so i thought.
collecting the car to drive home revealed a flat battery that turned into a blown main fuse involving an additional five hours of time stuck helplessly in a multilevel city carpark on the weekend with no tools or assistance and resulting in much unexpected expenditure of frustration and finances. sigh.
but on the topic of mother's day:
happy mother's day!
and as thoughtfully said by my old friend:
thinking of all those mums out there in heaven,
and all the chicks who aren't mums for whatever reason.
school holidays!
we spent the last week with friends up near warburton
damp!
but the kids all had a blast outside:
jumping in muddy puddles,
masterchef-ing with found items,
marshmallow roasting over the outside fire,
riding bikes,
rope swinging into the yarra (truly bone chilling at this time of year!),
running time trials,
kicking the footy,
walks,
riding the motorbike,
caving.
and me:
teaching my friends, hannah + emme, to knit
[scarves for their bears],
knitting a hat for anais
[modelled by hannah].
such great times.
my very own sewing cupboard!
shame the stash is too large to fit...
[surely the architect's fault, hey?!
must be time to find a new one, i think]
